Learn how Gopher track and field athlete Madeline Strandemo went from a walk-on to two-time B1G Champion.
Madeline Strandemo, who competes for both the women's cross country and track and field teams, received the 2017 Berg Legacy Award. The North Dakota native began her Gopher career as a walk-on and has since become a Big Ten champ, winning two individual titles last year as a junior: first winning the indoor mile and then winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase at last spring's outdoor championships.

Watch Madeline Strandemo finish as runner-up at the 2017 Big Ten Conference Cross Country Championship.
Madeline Strandemo won the mile and the Golden Gophers scored points in seven of eight possible events on day two at the Big Ten Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Minnesota finished fourth in the team standings with 70 points.
